SCHOOL PROJECTS

Meaningful Arts Immersion!

Elementary Workshops
Kick Start Arts provides hands-on, interactive workshops for your school.  Working only with skilled artist-educators, we bring the arts to life with integrity and excitement. New research confirms the importance of the arts in engaging learners in innovative ways. The arts build critical literacy skills, creativity, collaboration, and a strong sense of community. They can also be a powerful vehicle for explorations of social justice. Our workshops are crafted to nurture the development of the arts expectations found in the curriculum, while creating an opportunity for fun and meaningful arts immersion. Invite us in to come in and brainstorm a meaningful project for your school.

Secondary Workshops
Our workshops are specifically geared to bring professional  artists into your classrooms in order to empower your students with the skills they need to create independently, and to find their own ‘voice’ as artists. Most of these workshops take place over a number of sessions, with time in between for students to complete tasks. We also create assemblies, and assist in the creation of shows, performances and installations. Scheduling is flexible, and can be negotiated to accommodate the schedule of the school.

Professional Development

Over the last ten years, we have offered in-depth professional development for educators, artists and leaders in many settings. Our deep understanding of the challenges our diverse society faces, and our commitment to youth engagement, social justice, and the creation of collaborative, inclusive communities, makes our interactive, hands-on workshops much sought after. We offer single workshops, but increasingly are interested in providing arts-based support, mentoring, and coaching over time.

Our most recent highly successful workshop series was an ‘Arts and Social Justice Project Incubator’ hosted at SoulPepper Theatre.
