School Workshops

Kick Start Arts provides hands-on, interactive workshops for your school. Our roster of artist-educators are experts in igniting the creative spark in every student – with integrity, meaning and fun at the centre of each project.

The arts build skills essential to the 21st Century Modern learner – creativity, collaboration, citizenship, critical thinking, and a strong sense of community. Many of our projects are created using culturally responsive pedagogy, and support the development of literacy and wellness skills. We are passionate about creating arts projects that act as a powerful vehicle to explore issues of social justice, and are interested in supporting all students in finding their individual voices as artists.

Our philosophy centres on creating workshops tailored to the needs of the students, teachers, and schools we work in. We plan collaboratively with the classroom teacher and principal, honing each experience, so it meets the educational and creative needs of each class.

  • In order to book our artists, schools must have a minimum of two classes working with the same artist/art form.
  • Our workshops are typically three sessions per class, with the exception of media workshops, some drama session, murals and installations, which are a minimum of six session per class.
  • Increasingly, schools are excited to have us create more extensive projects, occurring over time. This can includes working with an entire division or school, or hosting an artist residency.
  • We also do whole school presentations, and performances.
